Cult Introductions - Ranting

Are you sure this is England, it's too hot!

For those of you that couldn't understand, it's hot today, which as a resident of the UK is always an odd thing. Also I say hot, but it's like 25'C (77'F) which to anyone living in a hotter country, must seem absurd. But as English we can't handle the weather. We like it mild. But, enough about the conditions.

To anyone who doesn't want to here about my cults, turn off now.

I have always been quite secretive of my fandoms and hobbies, especially ones that are not mainstream, or have stirred up controversy in the past, so as a result it's always nice when other people join my fandom. Recently I noticed one of my friends have supported and started to like an Anime show, and it got me thinking, how would you attract people to your side.

But after a while I thought; with what. For this I will talk about Anime examples (please don't kill me,) many become fans from what they first see, with the USA this is usually Pokemon or another kids show, but this is where problems start, you will, for a while at least, judge a genre by its most popular examples. That has become a problem with the Anime genre, because people only see the fighting kids shows, that is all they presume. You will many mediums arguing that is incredibly diverse, but is it still acceptable.

When I introduce people, I will start with the popular shows that are clean and have a good plot line. But is everything really like this. When I look at the shows I watch, to what people know about, I realise, you only ever show the least controversial stuff. If I showed programmes I watch to my group now, (not part of my fandom) I would probably be mocked. Why? Because it is so left-field of the norm that is seems stupid and to others would demise the franchise. While a weirdo like me can handle it, someone who has little cultural or historical knowledge, it will feel out of place.

But, of course it is not just Anime that gets this, many will know of the idea of Fan-fiction. This can be quite "exotic", and to an outside of this sort of literature, like myself, it seems perverted. However; surely it is the same thing, it may seem normal to those already inside the cult, but to everyone else it is not. So, how can this be fixed? At the moment I don't see how it can be fixed.

As always, I'm about to turn it into something more controversial than it already is.

 - Couldn't you have just left it there?
 - But I have more points to make
 - Their not going to like you.
 - No one does anyway
 - That's true, loner.

Well, that was a bit harsh, but here we go. I talk about the "common heard" not understanding the extremist Fan-fiction and Genres, surely, this can be used as an example in life. While many people will use this to compare the odd extremes of culture, such as the idea that Japan is really weird, because they don't do things the western way. What about extremist ideologies.

Many look at war conflicts or extremist groups and ponder the motives, but surely, in the same way many become accustom to the fan fictions or, in my case, odd Anime genres. To those involved in the extremist groups it will only be normal, or at the very least acceptable. This could also explain why many undercover agents defect to the other side, because, over time you become accustom to the ideology. So does this means that wars and conflicts are caused by peoples ignorance of the other persons view? I'll let you decide.

So once again, I've turned an innocent post about Anime into a political decision, well done. -_- This was quite a serious genre, so I'll let you make your own decision, this is simply just one angle.

Understand your enemy, and you'll understand your faults
